Tonight we enjoyed pizza out with some friends. We met at 5 so that they could get home in time for their oldest daughter's sleepover. It actually worked well for us since we wanted to run some errands after we ate. We still managed to get home in time for a bath and bed for the boy. Unfortunately, he decided he was done quite a bit earlier than we were so that brings me to my first question. How do you keep a toddler from completely melting and losing it in the shoe store or hardware store parking lot or parked at the pump of a gas station?
The answer to that burning question is Singing in the Rain. I have many fond memories of that old musical. It's a bit of a tradition in my family. My brother spent hours as a small child imitating Donald O'Connor in "Make 'Em Laugh." It has been purchased from Amazon and downloaded to our kindle.
So tonight we entertained our tired toddler riding home in a warm dark car with the sounds of "Good Morning," and I think there really is very little that is cuter than a one-year-old dancing along while strapped into his car seat.
In case you aren't familiar with that particular song, I hope you enjoy imagining the adorable shoulder shimmies that accompanied this song in our car this evening.
